Crackerjack Book Giveaway!!!

One year ago today, I hosted a launch party for my book and was blown away by the response. I'm feeling especially grateful tonight for all the people who packed the Grand Event Center in Northfield that evening to show their interest and support. Such an event would not be possible under current COVID-19 restrictions.

As a thank you to those of you who attended my launch party or who've read my book during the past year, I'm having a book giveaway! Tell me in the comments in this blog post, on Facebook, or in an email (writerjoyriggs@gmail.com), something you particularly enjoyed in Crackerjack Bands and Hometown Boosters: The Story of a Minnesota Music Man – it could be a favorite chapter, a scene, or a line – OR tell me something you learned that surprised you.

Everyone* who leaves a comment by 6 p.m. central time on Saturday, July 18 will be entered into the drawing for a free, autographed copy of the book. I will do the drawing live on Facebook at 6 p.m. this Sunday evening, July 19, and choose one winner.

(*Sorry, but if you're married to me or are one of my three children, you're not able to enter)

Why would you want a copy of the book if you've already read it, you ask? Well, if you win and you don't want to keep the book for yourself, you could give it to a friend or family member you think would enjoy it, or you could donate it to your local library. Lots of options!

If you haven't read the book and are feeling left out, I have a different contest for you! Write an excuse for why you haven't read the book yet (post it in the blog comments, in the Facebook comments, or email me). The people with the top best 5 excuses – they can be funny, sincere, or outlandish (anything goes as long as they're not offensive) will receive a mini G. Oliver sticker in the mail. I will be the judge of the excuses. Yes, you read that right – I am judging you.

Thanks, and good luck!
