It's one of many reasons why we should support our public libraries! They are constantly adapting to the needs of their patrons.
I went in to the library this morning to do a test-run of the technology (it has reopened to the public, and masks are mandatory), and it felt comforting to be back inside the building amid all those books, including Crackerjack Bands and Hometown Boosters: The Story of a Minnesota Music Man. To see a list of other libraries where it's available, click here.
Hope to see you on Monday!

I'll be coming to you live from the library's Pye Room. Watch in your pajamas if you want! |
Here are the details: I'll read from my book and talk about the writing and researching process in a live, hour-long program starting at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 1. The program is free, but you need to register ahead of time here. Once you're registered with your email address, they'll send you the details for signing into the event.
The program will be conducted through the GoToMeeting video conferencing site, which is similar to Zoom, Google Meet, and Skype; if you've used any of them, this will have a similar feel. The library is hoping to record the program, so if you aren't able to attend the virtual event, there's a chance you can watch it later.
I'll take questions during the event, but if you'd like to send some to me ahead of time, that would be great, too. You can comment on this blog post or email your question(s) to writerjoyriggs@gmail.com.
